We are sorry to report the death of Marie Garrett, a well respected and popular figure in the world of cross country in the North East. Marie, alongside her husband Bill, was involved in the sport over several decades notably as an organiser of the Northern Women’s Cross Country Championships. At National level Marie was a member of the Women’s Cross Country and Road Running Association before it amalgamated with the English Cross Country Union to become the English Cross Country Association (ECCA) and as a result was made a Life Member of the ECCA.Marie Garrett
